Making Healthy Cabbage Chips at Home

I love making simple, healthy treats that will surprise you with their exceptional taste. These cabbage chips are easy to make and are also healthy and enjoyable. Making your healthy food not only supports your health and provide you with full control over ingredients used, but they are also full of vitamins. They can be eaten right away or after cooling off. In my household, they go fast!

There is always a time when we need to have something tasty to eat. I prefer vegetables and healthy options to store-bought snacks that are often loaded with sugars, additives, and allergens.

I reach for cabbage because of its high Vitamin C levels, great taste, and availability. In addition to vitamin C, cabbage is full of nutrients. While cabbage leads the digestion, it also decreases inflammation that underlies many chronic health conditions.

Ingredients

  • 1 organic cabbage head
  • 1-2 tablespoon (TBS) coconut oil
  • ½ teaspoon (TSP) salt
  • ½ TSP whole caraway seeds
  • ½ TSP ground caraway seeds

Healthy Chips Variety

You can make it part of your dish, or just use it as something to munch on. It is much healthier than other chips varieties. 

 

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Peel outside lawyers of cabbage till you get clean and healthy-looking leaves. If you have larger cabbage head, split it into halves and then cut into ½ to 1-inch slides. If you have a smaller cabbage head, you can go ahead and make slides already. 

Step 2

Place slides on the pan covered with parchment paper and smeared with coconut oil. This step will help you to prevent sticking and make cleaning much easier.

Step 3

Set your oven to 350 F degrees.  While your oven is preheating, sprinkle salt, whole caraway seeds, and ground caraway seeds on each cabbage slice.

 

Step 4

Place in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes, till you see some little brown color starting at the edges.

 

Step 5

Enjoy warm or cold!
